From past 4 years, we have been working tirelessly to uplift the livelihood of local farmers by creating markets for their local produce and conserving the Himalayan Ecosystem. We are now taking even more significant steps to promote the traditional practice of beekeeping as a commercial activity, with the aim of elevating farmers' socio-economic status on a larger scale. Our efforts also focus on preserving native bees(Apis cerana indica)and protecting the environment. We earnestly seek your generous supportfor this initiative

The Challenge: Beekeeping, a longstanding tradition in the rural communities of Uttarakhand, has immense potential that remains largely untapped. Unfortunately, farmers face numerous challenges, including limited resources, lack of training, inadequate infrastructure, and the impact of climate change. These challenges prevent them from expanding their traditional beekeeping practices, leaving them struggling to achieve sustainable incomes.

Moreover, the decline in native bee populations (Apis cerana indica) poses a significant threat to agriculture and the environment. Native bees are vital pollinators, playing a crucial role in sustaining diverse ecosystems, increasing crop yields, and conserving biodiversity. Their disappearance not only affects food security but also disruptsplant reproduction, and overall ecological balance.Urgent measures are crucial to address these issues and unlock the full potential of beekeeping while ensuring the preservation of native bee populations for a sustainable future.

The Solution:We firmly believe that by forming a beekeeping cluster involving farmers practicing traditional beekeeping and empowering them with the necessary tools, infrastructure, training, and resources, we can address these pressing challenges and create a positive impact on both farmers and the environment. Himalaya Tree will serve as an Assistance Partner, providing support to farmers in packaging, branding, and marketing their produce. Over 300 farmers from nearly 50 villages are eager to form a beekeeping cluster and enhance their livelihoods through improved beekeeping practices.
